About MoviesWithSeb

I am Seb. MoviesWithSeb is where I review cult, horror, sci-fi, world and arthouse film: the ones that push, challenge or unsettle, that stick with you after the credits and send you hunting for more. French extremity, J-horror, Bong Joon-ho, early Cronenberg, obscure giallo, and the kind of European arthouse most streaming algorithms will never put in front of you.

What MoviesWithSeb covers

Every review is an honest take, written without needing the film to be great. Some earn five stars. Some earn two. The point is to say something true about why a film works or why it does not, in plain language that respects your time. No jargon, no pretension, no sitting on the fence when a film asks for a verdict. I cover UK releases, cult classics, and the wider world of cinema that does not always get the attention it deserves over here.

Interviews with the people who make the films

Alongside the reviews, I sit down with the people who make the films. I have talked to Yang Jin-mo, who edited Parasite, Jean-Christophe Bouzy, Julia Ducournau's editor on Titane, Adrien Morot, the Oscar-winning prosthetics artist who built the effects on Martyrs, and actors Ko Asung from The Host and Maxim Gaudette from Incendies. These are conversations about craft, the parts of film-making most reviews skip straight past.

MoviesWithSeb and Dead Duck Film Club

MoviesWithSeb is my own reviews and film opinion. Dead Duck Film Club is the Nottingham screening collective I am part of, which runs monthly cult and arthouse screenings at the Savoy Cinema, a monthly social, and the podcast I co-host. If you are here for my take on a film, that is MoviesWithSeb. If you want the screenings, the events and the podcast, that is Dead Duck.
